TRADITIONAL HERBS! All Of Our Medicine Today Was Preserved By Shamanic Herbalist! Now That Will Be Lost!

Sunday, January 31st, 2010

Definition: Traditional Herbs

A traditional herb is defined as a botanic material known before history used by native people for their food and/or medicine. In all regions of the world, we owe native people our gratitude for the knowledge handed down to the people of recorded history. For example, where would the British be without the herbal herbs medicine and food plants of their Native Indians – The Scots, Irish, Celts, Picts, Faerie folk. FYI, The natives wore leathers, painted their bodies like Native Americans. The natives of the British Isles provided the whole world, a great treasure of herbal medicine today. To mention a few- angelica, garlic, chrysanthemum, hawthorn, digitalis, licorice root, holly, seaweed, many varieties of mushrooms, etc. Shamans of ancient times or past medicine men and women of all cultures have maintained a surplus bio library where many ailing clients have benefitted in alternative medicine centers, daily.

Where do traditional herbs come from?

Common sense would tell you that they come from all over the world. Any master herbalist appreciates this fact, but in reality, this fact is quickly disappearing. Given that our modern civilization continues to spread on the planet, more and more species are being lost. Many undiscovered flora are being lost and who knows what benefit has been lost due to greed and failure to be cognizant of how, short term interests, are destroying our current and future quality of life. Around the world, major contributions have been added to the herbal medicine arsenal:

  • Asia: Ginsengs, Astragalus, Chinese mushrooms (Yunzhi, Reishi), etc.
  • North America: Aloe Vera, American ginseng, Alfalfa, Goldenseal, Milk Thistle
  • Central America: peppers, Cumin, Paprika, Oregano, Hibiscus, Coriander, avocado
  • South America: Maca, Guarana, Yerba Maté, Pau d’ Arco, Muira Puama, Jatoba, Catuaba
  • India: Ashwagandha, Gymnema Sylvestre, Ashoka, Guggulu, Dashmoola
  • Africa: Yohimbe, Hoodia, Rooibus, Bangalala, Sacred Blue Lily, Ubulawu, Bush Potato
  • Europe: Chamomile, Valerian, Anise, Plantain, Fennel, Rosemary, Senna Leaf
  • Australia: Eucalyptus, Tea tree, Wattleseeds, Morama bean & nuts, Bush lime

Benefits of Combining Herbs from Around the World

In the past, most of regional herbal medicine practices have operated separate from the other. Some initial bridges were created in the 1970s, between the US and Europe. With different migrations of Asian medicine practitioners, some trust was developed between specific practitioners and their students. The result was to create student-authors willing to share their knowledge. This raised the general knowledge while allowing more passionate herbalists to further their development. The 1980s began more sharing of the Ayurvedic tradition, These two sophisticated methodologies joining with the Three Americas has yielded a vast exchange of herbal knowledge. This synergy of sharing is improving everyone’s practice. The separatists approach has succumbed to practitioners who are more inclusive and open-minded, Patients are getting better and more impressed with the results. Patients are looking for substitutes for conventional medicine and its here to settle, if unhindered by the Big Pharma interests. The internet is improving information access. The end result now is that a solitary idea will collide with another. The result will be synthesis, if both sides are open, then a new improved idea will take hold. A World Herbal system is here now! Our natural medicine educational system is helping, When summed up, it’s the best time, if you are a patient. The delivery of treatment is outstanding and progressing.

Looking for Natural Treatments for MS

Tuesday, July 14th, 2009

When you or someone that you have has been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, you will find that there there are many different treatment options that you might be considering. As the condition MS is first and foremost an auto immune condition, it can often signify that a treatment plan can be difficult to construct and nut out. Regardless, if you are unfortunate enough to be at the mercy of strong conventional prescription medications, and you would like to seek other alternatives as an adjunct, there are a number of things that you can try.

The first and most common natural method for treating MS is diet. Many specialists feel that the chronic degenerative diseases that we face today are related to your diet. The greater incidences of MS these days corresponds to the rise of cancer, heart issues and arthritis and these in turn correspond with the inclusion of high foods as well as processed foods and a large amount of refined sugar in our diet.

This is a very standard diet for people all over the world and and there has been some research that shows that drastically cutting back on these things can actually cause the issue to go into remission and the symptoms to fade away. When a diet that is meant to control MS is begun, it will often begin to show results in as little as four to six weeks.

There are people who are very interested in homeopathy who feel that it can make a large difference when it comes to treating MS. One of the strengths of using homeopathic methods to treat MS is that it is something that will treat the symptoms. The symptoms of MS are varied enough that it can make diagnosis and treatment tricky, but with a homeopathic treatment, you will find that all of your symptoms can be treated in and of themselves.

You will not need to choose between powerful, mutually exclusive treatments that take care of some of your symptoms but not of all of them. These are also treatments that can be halted when the symptoms disappear as well.

A powerful new treatment called MMS, or Miracle Mineral Supplement has been used with gret effect against MS. Its active constituent is called chlorine dioxide, and research is suggesting that this above many other forms of therapy is becoming the treatment of choice for those with this debilitating condition.

There are also some herbal medications that have had a good record of treating the symptoms of MS. There are many plants that have been used as non toxic medications for centuries, and much like homeopathy, it is used to treat the symptoms of the condition, rather than the offending microbe itself.

The herbs should be chosen by someone with a strong background in the topic who has a thorough understanding of your symptoms. The herbs should then work with your normal body processes rather than taking over from them as many prescription drugs will do. In this case, they will be working with your body rather than against it.

Also remember, clean water is always important within any treatment plan.

Take some time and make sure that you consider what these natural remedies to MS can do for you. As it stands, it can be a difficult pill to swallow in coming to the realization that someone you care about or love has this condition, but still, this doesn’t mean that we are completely without option against it. There are a number of treatments that you can choose from, and you will find that there are many ways that you can triumph over this issue.

Sjogren’s Disease - What you Need to know

Tuesday, July 14th, 2009

When the body decides to attack itself with the immune system that is designed to keep the body healthy, sufferers have intense pain, inflammation and serious life threatening side effects. A most unfortunate auto immune pathology is known by the name of Sjogren’s disease. This condition called Sjogren’s syndrome is a pathology in which the body’s immune system begins to fight with the moisture producing glands. The main symptoms that are first noticed by sufferers of this debilitating condition are dry eyes and dry mouth. Approximately four million people suffer from Sjogren’s syndrome, with the vast majority being women.

Diagnosis

Because Sjogren’s syndrome mimics other autoimmune diseases, it is sometimes misdiagnosed as another immune disease such as lupus or arthritis. To complicate matters, patients often present with any one or more symptoms. While no single gene, hormone or enzyme has been identified as the cause, it does appear to have a hereditary component, as it is often seen in families.

An entire comprehension of all symptoms involved is required for a proper treatment plan of this condition. Testing for antibodies, taking lip biopsies and testing the secretions of fluid surrounding the eyes is all useful in the diagnosis of.

Medications Routinely Used

Because Sjogren’s syndrome is an autoimmune disease, no cure is currently available. All of the medications used for Sjogren’s syndrome help relieve the symptoms and inflammation often present in the glands and other tissues. Anti inflammatory drugs and non steroidal medications such as aspirin, naproxen along with others are often implemented to reduce signs of inflammation. Doctors will often sugggest immunosuppressive drugs and corticosteroids if there appears to be any involvement of internal organs implicated with the individuals degree of severity relating to the syndrome.

Sores and infections require specific antibiotics to allow healing and to prevent systemic infection.

Because treatment often has serious side effects, patients often seek natural remedies as well as preventive care.

Natural Treatment Options for Sjogren’s Syndrome

Treatment for Sjogren’s syndrome involves helping provide supportive therapy to help relieve the symptoms resulting from the syndrome. Treatment focuses on the major symptoms, specifically providing artificial tears for dry eyes and artificial saliva for dry mouth.

Natural remedies include balancing rest and exercise. Syndrome sufferers benefit from a balanced diet that supports natural immune health as well. Some patients have benefited from herbal remedies. More natural methods of supporting the body’s immune system have been reported back from sufferers to be most effective in symptom relief.

Unknown to many, there is a product called MMS, or Miracle Mineral Supplement that has hit the health market that is proving itself to be enormously effective against this condition. Again, without going too much into it, it’s well worth a look.

For discomfort and pain, some have found that acupuncture is also helpful. Because the syndrome presents with a variety of symptoms, including joint pain and pain in the extremities, a combination of acupuncture and acupressure may be helpful in relieving discomfort.

Preventive Care

Because there is no cure, preventing damage to the eyes, especially by avoiding dust, smoke and protecting the eyes from dry wind is important. Preventing dry eye will also help prevent corneal abrasions and infections that are commonly seen in this syndrome. Patients are also cautioned about using hair dryers or letting the eyes dry out excessively. A doctor should immediately examine any inflammation, redness, pus or pain in the eye.

It is also very important for those with the syndrome to brush and floss daily. Natural or the more conventional dental products are useful. Keeping the teeth and mouth clean will help prevent gum and mouth sores. Drinking plenty of fluids, humidifying the air and using artificial saliva helps prevent gum and dental infections.

Treat Herpes Naturally - See Results Quickly

Effective Natural Treatments for Herpes

Many infected with herpes are unaware of natural home remedies that are available to help them. While most have investigated topical and prescription oral medications that suppress outbreaks, many are unaware of the variety of natural treatments for herpes, which are also effective. In learning about and using natural treatments for herpes, a person can shorten the length of their outbreaks; while at the same time lessen the severity when outbreaks do occur.

The term Herpes Simplex is what this pathology is known by in medical circles, and is used to describe up to 50 types of the one virus. These include Epstein Barr virus, chicken pox, and shingles. Even though it includes a vast array of viral infections, the term is most often used to describe either Herpes Simplex Virus 1 (HSV1), affecting the mouth or Herpes Simplex Virus 2 (HSV2), which appears on the genitals. It should also be noted that both strains can also appear on other body parts, but HSV1 is used to describe infections of body parts above the waist and HSV2 is the diagnosis when symptoms appear below the waist. Once infected, the herpes virus lays dormant in a person’s central nervous system and, occasionally, erupts in the form of cold sores and lesions.

Commonly prescribed medications such as Choraphor, amir, and Valtrex are given for herpes outbreaks. However, these medications are generally only prescribed to patients suffering with severe cases of herpes. Other oral medications are also sometimes prescribed to suppress painful, frequent, and severe outbreaks. It is not uncommon for those with concerns about the side effects of these drugs to seek natural treatments for herpes instead.

Various adjustments to the diet may substantially diminish the frequency and severity of outbreaks. For instance, research indicates that the amino acid arginine literally nourishes the herpes virus. Another amino acid, lysine, does just the opposite as it starves the virus and, thus, significantly weakens its ability to cause an outbreak.

Natural treatments for herpes include decreasing the consumption of foods that are high in arginine, such as nuts, broccoli, tomatoes, corn, sugar, chocolate, pastas, white bread, and barley. While decreasing these foods, it is also necessary to increase the consumption of foods with a high lysine to arginine ratio, such as Swiss cheese, margarine, butter, plain yogurt, whitefish, salmon, mango, low fat milk, avocado and a host of other high lysine foods. Lysine can also be taken in supplemental form.

Foods known to be high in omega 3 fatty acids are also helpful in suppressing frequent herpes outbreaks. Such foods include oily fish, such as tuna or salmon, or a person may choose to take omega 3 supplements as well. High doses of garlic are also highly recommended as natural treatments for herpes as garlic assists in stimulating the body’s natural immune system.

Other natural treatments for herpes, which have been effective in reducing the frequency and severity of outbreaks, include Aloe Vera, Lactoferrin, Resveratrol, and Lemon Balm. Aloe Vera can be applied directly to a herpes lesion or can be consumed as a tea or other herbal treatment. Natural remedies like these have been used for generations to treat the herpes virus because they are so effective.

A treatment that has recently come to the fore for Herpes Simplex is called MMS, or Miracle Mineral Supplement. It is gaining quite a momentum of its own, and is well worth looking into as an alternative to other less effective treatments out there.

Often described as one of the best natural treatments for herpes, the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is also highly useful in naturally suppressing the virus. In using the Emotional Freedom Technique, the emotional cause, which originally weakened the natural immune system, is addressed by tapping acupuncture meridians and reactivating the immune response to the virus. Along with homeopathic remedies formulated to personally address the virus in one’s body, these natural treatments for herpes are widely heralded among natural health enthusiasts.

IBS - Relieve symptoms Naturally within one Week

Sunday, July 12th, 2009

This condition is very common, and many of us around the world currently suffer disorder called IBS. This stands for Irritable Bowel Syndrome and is not a very pleasant thing to experience. The intensity of the IBS presentation obviously differs from person to person, as does all physical illness, and issues. Everyone is different and what works to ease the problems of one might not work for the other.

Essentially IBS is a miss firing of the stomach muscle responsible for moving your food from one end of your intestine to the other. This muscle flow is essential for healthy digestion and bowel movements. Individuals who suffer from IBS typically know whatslike for their muscles to spasm uncontrollably, or suddenly cramp incredibly. Neither of these is very comfortable.

When the digestive muscles flow of movement is interrupted by these spasms, and cramps the affect can be likened to that of a malfunctioning conveyor belt. Certain areas are vacated extremely fast and others are backed up. This can lead to all sorts of problems on the line. In peoples case it can lead to severe gas, bloating, pain, explosive diarrhea, and other nasty things.

I suffer from this problem myself so I understand what people who have this problem are going through. The primary distinction between this illness and that of others is that IBS in not a disease in the normal sense of the word. In a number of instances a disease is classified as having an infection, foreign pathogen or viral stressor within the body causing issues. This is more of a malfunction, not that it doesn’t deserve to be classified as a disease, it’s just not a normal problem.

One of the key problems with treating it is that people don’t seem to understand that they need to take care of themselves first. One of the main causes of IBS is a lack of fiber in the body. Fiber and whole grains can help keep the digestive system moving as well as all the vitamins and minerals your mother always told you to take. I’m not saying fiber is the cure all but having adequate fiber can’t hurt, and in some cases eases the problem.

Easing the problem can help immensely; sometimes you can deal with the condition if it’s less intense. Another thing you can do on your own is exercise. Walk, power walk, or run. Basically anything that gets you moving. These types of activities encourage bowel movements and as such encourage your intestinal muscles to move properly.

Now even if you do all the above mentioned steps it’s not a guarantee to cure you. These steps are just ways to treat it without taking medication or having surgery. In many cases it can make IBS go away if it’s a light to moderate case but in other cases you need to take more drastic steps. Outside of eating properly and exercising you could take a colon cleanser. This is going to hurt more than the IBS though.

As an aside, the new treatment out there in the market place called Miracle Mineral Solution has proven itself time and time again to be enormously effective against IBS type conditions, with the active ingredient being chlorine dioxide.

In closing there are quite a few options for natural treatment of IBS. Please remember that if eating healthy, and exercising doesn’t work to consult your doctor. The whole point of this article is to encourage natural treatments but if you have a severe problem please do not hesitate to go to a physician.

How Best to Treat Colon Cancer with Diet

Wednesday, July 8th, 2009

If you or someone you care about has recently been diagnosed with colon cancer, you’re sure to have a lot of questions and concerns about cancer itself and how to stay as healthy as possible. Although the exact treatment for you should be based upon the actual stage the disease is in at the time of detection, meaning how far it has progressed thus far, there are still several natural alternatives to consider adding to your cancer-fighting arsenal.

All natural remedies for treating colon cancer, as opposed to conventional treatments, are non-specific, which means they don’t necessarily target one area but rather have a positive effect on the entire body. It is well known that cancer tends to metastasize and spread quite quickly to other areas of the body, and this can happen even whilst being in the middle of treatment. Still, there is a much greater chance of ridding cancer more quickly.

Whenever an individual is diagnosed with this pathology, the main priority is to quickly address the lifestyle that is currently being engaged. These include dietary corrections, as well as embracing activities that alow the body’s immune system to boost itself. It is also of great importance to mention detoxifying, as many toxins reside within the bowel, and this is one of the most powerful tools that can.

There are several supplements of herbs, vitamins, and minerals that are known to help the body protect itself from the ravages of colon cancer including folic acid, vitamins B and D, calcium, and magnesium.

Anthocyanins, an antioxidant compound found in the bilberry fruit, and an extract from the Chinese mushroom reishi, which has been used as a popular cancer-fighting agent in ancient Chinese medicine for centuries, have been combined in a supplement that’s used to help the body boost its immune system and stimulate the production of new, healthy cells thanks to a number of substances and antioxidants.

Recent scientific studies have also found that chemicals within onions and turmeric, which is a spice, could be helpful for treating colon cancer. These chemicals, curcumin from the turmeric and the antioxidant quercetin from the onions, seem to reduce both the number and size of precancerous lesions within the intestines, causing researchers to believe the same substances could have the same positive effect on cancerous polyps within the colon.

Various other natural, herbal remedies are used for not only treating colon cancer, but cancer in general, and of course, following a specific diet including the use of nutritional supplements is usually strongly advised.

Scientists have long known that red meat and alcohol greatly increase the risks of getting colon cancer, and those who have already been diagnosed should avoid both while increasing their servings of fruits and vegetables as well as adding exercise to their routine if able.

Acupuncture is yet another method of natural treatments for colon cancer that’s been effective for many patients coping with the disease. Acupuncture is thought to stimulate and strengthen the immune system as well as ease the common effects from conventional treatments like chemotherapy and radiation such as nausea, vomiting, and fatigue, addressing not only the side effects of the cancer itself but its original cause as well.
